Perfect Chocolate Covered strawberries
An all time favorite that can be enjoyed anytime
Ingredients
- 2 lb. large ripe strawberries long stems are best
- 1 lb. chopped chocolate or chocolate chips - milk, semi-sweet or dark
- 2 tsp. vegetable oil
- 1/2 lb. white chocolate (optional).
- 2 cup chopped nuts - pecans or almonds (optional).
Directions
- Step 1 Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Step 2 Fill a small pot with about an inch of water and bring to a simmer.
- Step 3 Place a small bowl over the pan with the simmering water but make sure the bottom of the bowl is not touching the simmering water.
- Step 4 Add the chocolate chips and the oil and let that melt slowly as you stir with a wooden spoon or heat proof spatula.
- Step 5 Remove the bowl with the melted chocolate from the pan and start dipping in your strawberries.
- Step 6 Dip 2/3 of the strawberry in the chocolate and carefully shake off any excess. Place them on the parchment lined baking sheet. Allow them to set for 5 minutes at room temperature and then pop them in the fridge for 15 minutes to set completely.
- Step 7 TIPS:
- Step 8 * If you plan to dip the strawberries in chopped nuts, roll the chocolate dipped strawberries gently in the nuts to coat before placing them on the parchment.
- Step 9 ** After dipping the strawberries in chocolate, if you want to drizzle them with white chocolate, pour the melted white chocolate into the corner of a plastic zipper bag and seal. Cut a very small tip-off the corner of the bag, gently squeeze the white chocolate through the hole in the corner, drizzling the chocolate in a thin stream on top of the chocolate dipped berries, moving your hand to create squiggly.
- Step 10 *** You can serve the chocolate strawberries chilled or at room temperature. Chilled strawberries will have a nice crunch to the chocolate, however room temp will make the chocolate a bit softer to bite through.
